Announcing the Lichess Rapid and Bullet Team Leagues

While not yet as large as our popular Lichess Bundesliga (blitz), rapid and bullet team events have been growing in popularity. We have therefore decided to make two ongoing league events official on Lichess. If your team has already been participating in these events, we hope you’ll continue to enjoy participating. We also welcome any new teams just learning about these leagues today. Please contact the organisers to have your team added.

Lichess Rapid League

Since September 2022, the Elite Team Battles with Ensemo have already been hosted 125 times on Mondays. Back then, we decided to try out the somewhat new and rare time control format for team battles with 10+0, which allowed players to choose between playing blitz with a 5-minute berserk or rapid with the starting 10 minutes. This event has become popular enough that an official Lichess event will be added with these teams continuing as they have been. Since the start of the “Rapid League” in September 2022, 1000+ players from 170+ teams have participated in the weekly team battle with time controls of 10+0, 7+5, and 7+2.

The teams will continue to play in "League mode" with 10 teams maximum. New teams that are still interested to join will join the grid from the lowest league and win their way up. We will continue to rotate time controls just like in the Lichess Bundesliga but with the rapid time controls 10+0, 7+5, and 7+2.

Lichess Bullet League

Thank you to wannabegmonce and the Indicheck team for organising the Bullet Pleasure Weekly Team battle events. Due to the unfortunate and unexpected absence of wannabegmonce, cormacobear of the Lichess team has been continuing to organise these events. However, to make the events easier to organise and secure the long-term stability of the event, we have decided to create the official Lichess Bullet League, a new team dedicated to the event.

The Lichess Bullet League is a weekly team battle. The 1+0 tournament will be played each Wednesday at 6 PM UTC.
Each tier has room for 200 teams. When the first tier has 200 teams, a second tier will be created and teams divided into two groups of 100 teams. After this, the bottom-scoring 20 teams in group A will be moved to group B, and the top-scoring 20 teams in group B will be moved up to compete in group A within a day of the results.
To have your team added, please DM cormacobear or any other leaders except the Lichess account. If your team has played recently in the Bullet Pleasure Weekly events, your team is likely already added, but please check to be sure.
